Jordan Gysberts drafted to Melbourne!!!!!!!!!

Jordan began his playing career at Chirnside Park in 2001 in the Under 11s' and finished in 2005 in the under 15s' in our

 Grand Final loss.

Jordan was part of the team that started in 'C' grade in the under 11s' losing more games than they won. In 2002, he was part of the U12 'C' grade premiership side. In 2003 he repeated this feat playing a big role in securing the U13 'B' grade premiership. In 2004, he played in the U14 'A' grade side which played off in the finals, and he finished runner up in the B&F. In his final season in the U15 'A' grade side, he had a fantastic year winning the B&F and also playing off in the grand final. He also captained the EFL inter league U14 side this year, which means he played every year at Chirnside in a side where he was a year behind all other boys. This was a fantastic achievement, and his durability was reflected in that he never missed a home and away game, or any of the side's 9 finals games in the final four years of his time with Chirnside Park.

JAMES MEDALISTS - Murphy & Maghamez

Kane Maghamez and Brendon Murphy have tied for this years James Medal in division four.

BRENDON MURPHY – CHIRNSIDE PARK

Brendon Murphy certainly caught the umpires’ eye in season 2009, polling in nine of his 11 games for the season and tying for the James Medal in this years division four best and fairest count. Missing five games through injury did not stop Murphy from polling well this year, and with the dashing Panther midfielder being awarded three best on ground performances in a row to finish the season – in the final game of the year ironically against co winner Kane Maghamez’s Templestowe side. The award capped off what has been a great year for both Murphy and his club. Not only did Murphy finish this season with the league best and fairest and a premiership medallion, but he was also announced the captain of the SEN team of the year in division four as well.

When interviewed Friday night after receiving his best and fairest medal, Murphy was surprised to be receiving the award. “I am a bit shocked – I expected to come here tonight for the free feed. But while I am up here (on stage) I would like to thank my team mates. Justin Carusi (President) and Jason De Graaf (coach), they have been very good to me … and I am very shocked (to win this).”

Murphy had been attending the night with the thought of celebrating with another teammate who he predicted would win the award. “The best and fairest at Chirnside Park, Brad Waters, I came here tonight expecting to see him win … but I am up here now and I will definitely take it. Thanks to the EFL for a good night,” Murphy said. The Panther best and fairest Waters did not catch the eye of the umpires as much as Murphy did in 2009, polling only three votes in the league best and fairest. The next best Panthers player in the James Medal voting was division four grand final best on ground Aaron Pettinella with 16 votes.

In only his second season at Chirnside Park, Murphy has enjoyed the experience, especially being part of their first ever senior premiership side – with the Panthers senior team only established in 1991. “It has been the most rewarding part of the move just seeing sheer joy on the faces of people that have worked so hard at Chirnside Park for such a long time,” Murphy said. “The players have suffered finishing outside of the finals but we have had two pretty successful years, finishing runners up last year, and then to win it this year against Kilsyth was brilliant. It is a rivalry game between us and Kilsyth, and to win against them was a such a huge thing for the club and that night back at the club rooms was just the most rewarding thing to see everyone so happy.”

Murphy polled in nine of his 11 games for the season, recording five best on grounds for the year. He only missed votes in one of his first seven matches – in round six versus Templestowe. Murphy is only the second EFL best and fairest winner at Chirnside Park after Aaron Potter won the colts best and fairest last year, but he is the first Panther player to ever win a senior best and fairest award in the EFL.
